Licensed in Elementary and Early Childhood Education
|
My name is Michelle Nelson. I grew up in Ogden, Utah in a family of eight children. I graduated with a BS in Elementary Education from Utah State University in 2002 and went on to teach 2 years of Kindergarten at Lewis Elementary in Ogden. While teaching I completed my Early Childhood Endorsement and Masters Degree from Utah State University. I have been teaching preschool for 5 years and have a current Utah Teaching License. I like to make learning exciting and engaging for my students. My philosophy is that parents and teachers need to foster a love for learning in children at a very young age. I believe that children need “real” hands-on experiences to help them practice new concepts. By “real”, I mean that they need to see how they can use the information and skills they are learning in their world. I like to use many mediums with students to engage all their senses. To accomplish this I integrate thematic teaching into my curriculum and use centers to reinforce learning. I want my students to have success not only during their preschool years but in all their years of schooling to come. |
